Contest Background:

The Meadows Neighborhood Company (MNC) Board of Governors and the MNC Staff are pleased to reinstate the Yard of the Month contest to show their appreciation and to recognize homeowners who exhibit effort in maintaining their property. The program will award monthly winners for landscaping in designated months throughout the year, and for holiday decorations in the months of October (Halloween) and December (Winter Night Lights).

Each monthly winner will receive a prize gift and special recognition on The Meadows Facebook pageMeadowslink.com, and in the E-blast. In addition, the winner will have the honor of displaying the official “Meadows Neighborhood Company Yard of the Month” lawn-sign to identify their property as being selected as that month’s winner.

Who is the judge? You are! Residents will vote for each Yard of the Month via an online survey that will be accessible on Facebook, our website, and in the Tuesday e-blasts.

Contest Guidelines:

  • The property of all current residents of MNC, both owner-occupied and rental, are automatically eligible to participate in the contest.
  • The upkeep of the yard can reflect the efforts of the residents themselves or that of a professional landscaper.
  • Judging for the award will be done by residents of the Meadows Neighborhood Company (MNC) HOA via an online survey.
  • You can promote/advertise the survey however you wish, but please try to keep it to residents of the community if at all possible.
  • You are welcome to enter the contest again, at any time, if you have not won previously in the last 12-months.
  • The same property cannot receive more than one award in the same rolling 12-month calendar period.
  • During their reign as Yard of the Month, winners are expected to maintain their yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the title.
  • If chosen as the winner, you may display your lawn-sign for up to 1 month after winning.

Judging Criteria:

Yard of the Month –

Candidates are judged on the appearance of their property as viewed from the street and all yard compositions are encouraged to participate, including xeriscape options. Yards will be judged on overall appearance and factors include, but are not limited to, tidiness and neatness of the front and side yards, pruned and trimmed trees and shrubs, edged and defined lawns with no bare spots or excessive weeds. Grass shall be mowed and edged, and grass around foundations and fences shall be trimmed. Walkways, driveways, and curbs shall be edged and free of debris and dirt.

  • Deadlines will change from month to month. We will typically allot ~2 weeks for submissions and ~1 week for voting, but check our Facebook, website, and e-blast for precise deadlines.
