Trash Policies
Time of Pickup: Please have your trash out by 7:00 AM on collection day. Waste Management will provide a trash toter to each homeowner for your weekly household disposal needs; however, they recommend that owners bag and tie all trash prior to placing it into the trash toter. Bagging your trash will help prolong the life of your trash containers and reduce odors. Bagging also helps prevent loose trash from blowing around your neighborhood on windy days.
Toters: Waste Management will provide a 64-gallon trash toter to each homeowner at no charge. These handy trash cans are mounted on wheels and have lids to contain the trash. They are especially durable on high wind days and are easy to maneuver in and out of the garage. Additional trash toters can be purchased for $100 by calling the service center at 303-797-1600.
Recycling: Owners who wish to commence recycling may do so for a one-time setup/delivery charge that will be determined by Waste Management for two recycle bins by calling the Waste Management office at 303-797-1600 to set up an individual recycling account. Recycling is only available using Waste Management recycle bins. There is no additional expense to recycle beyond initial purchase of bins. A separate truck picks up recyclables once every two weeks. If you are not on the route sheet hthen the driver may not take your recyclables. Recycling pickup is provided every other week on the same day as trash day. Special or Large Items: If you have any special or large items like furniture, appliances, or construction debris, please call our office at: 303-797-1600 to arrange for a special curbside pickup. Customers will be billed separately for special pickups. There may be appliance recyclers available to pickup used appliances at no charge. Consult your yellow pages under “Appliances-Major-Used†(Refrigerators and freezers require certification of Freon removal prior to disposal.)
Other info: 1. Cardboard boxes must be broken down or flattened. Better yet, recycle your moving boxes. Moving boxes many times can be recycled back to moving companies. Consider giving your moving company a call before throwing moving boxes away.
2. Remember! Trash haulers are not permitted to accept hazardous waste material or liquids. Examples of common household hazardous wastes are: paint, motor oil, ammunition, pesticides, herbicides, hot coals, propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, or other caustic materials.
